Post by RAC »

I've got a houseboat for 5 days on Shasta, looking for any recent reports. I know the water is headed back up again so....? :?:

Thanks,

Lots of big fish starting to show up these past few weeks. Fish seem to be anywhere from 5 to 25 ft. Worms and senkos have been catchin some nice fish. Dont be affraid to throw the big stuff when the wind comes up.

Look for warmer water! With the recent weather change, the conditions have been changing. Collectively, fish becoming more active, but bite may change daily.

The Lake is 34.18' from full pool as of this morning and coming up. The lake has come up roughly 17' since the 11th. Water Temps are in the low 50's, Look for a reaction bite in the backs of the cuts with flowing water, 1/2 & 3/4 oz. White Spinnerbaits with White double willows or Chartreuse with gold blades. Try throwing a Mothers Finest #39 6" straight tail on a 3/16 oz. darthead around the outsides of any noticable current. Working the edges of spawning areas with jigs in 15 to 25 feet has been productive. The Ganns Draggin' jig in Green pumpkin candy with a yamamoto #297 double tail has been the popular set up. Also look for a reaction bite in the same type of areas on Norman DD22's in either bumble bee or lavender shad depending on water clarity and Lucky Craft Staycee 90's in Ghost minnow and Phantom chartreuse shad have been the popular one's.

This is probably one of the best fish report post that I have even seen.. Not littered with a bunch of sponsor stuff, just fact (it seems)
AMATEURS work until they get it RIGHT..
PROFESSIONALS WORK until they CAN'T get it Wrong..

Phils is the best and this is one of the reasons. Every time I am near Redding I stop in. I always get great advice and help. Last trip to Shasta they helped me dial in on some very tough fishing. Some of the gear I already had and the rest I bought from them. Thanks to the entire gang.
