What rod do you throw 3/4 and 1 oz hulas on?
What rod do you throw 3/4 and 1 oz hulas on?
I'm putting away some $$$ to buy a good hula rod. Any recommendations? thanks!

I had Steve Biechman (stevescustomrods.net) make me up a MBR844 Loomis for my heavy jigs. It is perfect for me. Talk to him about a rod, he will give you what you want. Bill K

A little less expensive solution..
Fenwick makes a wonderfull casting rod in the HMG series. I have 2 for jigs.

I use a Kistler 7 foot Medium Heavy Helium LTA, with 15# flourocarbon line. Lately I have been using either P-Line or Stren. Works great, feel every pebble on the bottom and the lightest pick up. The light weigh rod lets me fish all day without wearing out my hands.
Prior to the Helium I used a Kistler Mark Tyler 7' MH, no longer made, but their graphite rod is similar and less $$ then a Helium.

I have a ....
Graphite USA 5 power rod custom made by Steve at www.stevescustomrods.net that I use for my jigs, hula grubs, etc. You won't find a better quality or more sensitive rod out there. And I switched over from an MBR844.
