I've had my boat (BassCat) for a year and a half and now my wife, who hasn't really been interested in going for a ride or fishing up to now, has finally taken me up on my offer to go out on the Delta for a little sightseeing trip. Easy enough at first glance, but there are a few complications that require a bit of thought and hopefully some advice from any of you who've done anything similar...
Not only did we decide it would be a good idea to tie up somewhere at noon and get some lunch, but that it would be fun to have her parents, who live in Pittsburg, drive to that location and meet us so they can see the boat and maybe get a short boat ride along with the lunch.
Now I've fished the Delta a lot so I more or less know my way around, but I've never stopped anywhere for lunch so I don't have any experience with that. I've always launched at Holland or Orwood, fished all day and then got off the water. Also, while I'll be launching with my wife from Orwood, it would be good if the place we have lunch and meet up with her parents would be a little closer to Pittsburg so they don't have to drive as far. Maybe somewhere around Franks or Big Break?
Anyone have any good ideas on a good place to meet up? Also, since this is a "sightseeing tour" with no significant fishing to speak of, any good places to check out?
Thanks! Greg

If you were touring the north Delta I'd suggest tying up at Giusti's guest dock. Great prime rib!

The Rusty Porthole and Sugar Barge are in Franks Tract.

Re: Delta Info (Lunch on the Water?)
Thanks for the responses and the link to the other thread. I'll just have to wade through it and figure out which place makes the most sense giving that I'm trying to keep my wife's parents from having to drive too far from Pittsburg (they are in their 80's...). Rusty Porthole sounds like the best suggestion so far as long as it won't be too difficult for them to find from the road.

Re: Delta Info (Lunch on the Water?)
The Rusty Porthole is where I go with my parents, wife and 5 year old. We do the boat tour first, then the shady restaurant is a pleasant escape from the delta sun. You can feed the carp from the deck with french fries or fish food from a machine.
The guest dock is not very stable. And my mom requires help to stay upright on it. Russo's is the next building south so I usually just drop everyone off there and they walk over to meet me at the restaurant.
We love that place.
