My freind has a 20 yr old motorguide motor with 67 lbs. thrust. He has a problem if there is any wind as the motor won't pull at high speed. His batterires are four years old but charge full after a trip. I think it's probably time to replace the motor or have it repaired? I'm asking if the motor is too old to repair? If it can be repaired where is the closest shop to Riverbank?
Thanks for any info I can get!

trolling motor repair?
Re: trolling motor repair?
Gene at Hook Line & Sinker fixed my MG right up. Give him a call & ask him. He'll know if it is worth repairing.

Re: trolling motor repair?
Being it is 20 years old it is analog. If it is a variable speed unit they no longer make parts for it.
If it is a 5 speed unit it is repairable by replacing the com cap which has the brush card and speed control built in.
I don't recommend repairing it, it is just to old.
