Clear Lake peaked, heading down?

Post by Grumpy »

Just a few years ago catching fish like this were common for us at Clear Lake, has the bass fishing there peaked and headed down. Opinions?

I fished clear lake 3 weeks ago, with good results. The guide I hired said clear lake peaked in 09 & in 2010 & has declined a little since. he's been on thee lake 17 years. Was still fun.
3/4 of the Earth's surface is water and 1/4 is land. Clearly god wants me to fish, not mow the lawn.

CL has a 3 year cycle normally...the quality of the bass tends to increase significantly when there is an abundance of threadfin shad in the water...i tend to see the quality decrease in the years when the silversides are the dominant forage fish in the water. None the less this year has been excellent and I think we're on an upswing year.
