Hydrowave...Who's running one?

Post by Lugnut »

I have the opportunity to pick one up and install it on my boat. I am just wondering who is using them and if they had it to do over again, would you do it again? Thanks for your .02

I'm not running one. FWIW

Over on BBC there is quite a bit of discussion. Some guys like it, some dont. Also, there seems to be some grumbling about some of the custom stuff (KVD special sounds) that was put out to get more sales after someone invested in the unit. From what i have read and distilled.. the unit doesnt seem to call bait or bass to you.. but when there is an bite on bait nearby that the fish seem to remain more active. I.E.: Schooling fish

You might want to go over to the Texas Fishing Forum and do a search. There is a lot of discussion and the rep answers questions. Wish we could get him over here to answer questions like you posted.

I have one mounted on my boat and I have yet to be sold it makes much difference. Does it keep the shad eating fish MORE active? I have yet to see much a difference on my body of water...some other lakes it may work but from what I have experienced on Lake Casitas is it hasn't really improved a bite for me.

I love it. It seems to really shine at lakes with little water visability. I have litterally had fish come out from underneath the boat and eat off my trolling motor because they were following me and the sound. It has also really helped me fishing at the river and played a role in winning the American Bass TOC. When a wolf pack would come up on my top water, the rest of the fish would just sit there and stare at my boat wondering what that sound was instead of swimming away. Was able to get multiple fish out of one wolf pack instead of just one or two. Also had fish come hauling *** up points as I went across them. Once they would come out to look at the boat I could just pitch a worm on them and in the boat they came.

Kyle,

I really appreciate your input. Can you tell me if you paid full price for your unit or if you are on staff with Hydrowave?

Thanks

My Dad and I bought one full pop probably close to 2 years ago now. Not on the pro staff just trying to give some real input. I had a Bio Sonix before this and just never put in the time to see if it would work. All the programming of your own sounds was just way too confusing and I just gave up on it. The Hydrowave is much easier to operate and the 5 sounds it comes with are perfect for whatever conditions you are fishing. If im on a outside hump at an extreamly pressured lake, I put it one Passive Shad before i put the trolling motor down. Then instead of the fish hearing the ticking of my sonar, they are hearing the sound of a bait ball above them. I am all about being as stealth as possible. If im fishing really fast with a spinnerbait, top water, or jerkbait, I set it on fleeing shad. It seems to get alot of those fish that follow your bait and turn away at the last second to commit. At the end of the day if it gets me a few more bites and more chances to win a derby im in.
