FLW EverStart Roosevelt Lake Update

Post by cowboy2 »

The tournament is getting close and we’re all getting excited here in Rim Country. Our planning group has been working daily with the FLW on the final plans for the EverStart and FLW College tournaments. On the afternoon of the registration and pre-tournament meeting at the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino, we will have FLW sponsors, anglers and local business providing information and talks about their products. We also will have anglers giving short talks on fishing techniques. As soon as we have names and times of the speakers finalized, I’ll get those posted. These demonstrations and talks will run concurrent with the registration 4:00-5:30. A TNF representative will be there to sell parking passes and the Mazatzal will have a booth selling fry bread and a coke for $5 which supports a charity run by the casino. Of course the deli and restaurants will all be open. We again are asking each angler to complete a short survey form that provides vital information to the community and helps to justify future tournaments. Each morning we will have cones set up in Cholla parking lot and volunteers to assist in directing traffic. As you go down the road leading to the Cholla ramp cones will be set up which will allow the carts to move anglers from the parking lots to the ramp. Please use the carts rather than walk. It will be dark during the launches so please everyone be extremely careful. The final day weigh-in will be at the Cholla Recreational Site. Payson’s KMOG radio will be doing a “live remote” broadcast during the weigh-in. Also, on the final day, the FLW College anglers will have their one day tournament. So on the final day, the college teams will weigh in first, followed by the FLW EverStart anglers a couple of hours later. Even if you’re not fishing, it will be a great time at the weigh-in and we’re hoping to see lots of spectators at the weigh-ins. The FLW has told us several times that the support for tournaments on Roosevelt Lake is among the best they see anywhere in the country and we hope this year is no different. Trust me on this one, the weather this year will be perfect so make plans to get to the weigh-ins! You have my word, no flooding, gale force winds, landslides, or a foot of snow! One angler commented last year that FLW stands for “Friggin Lousy Weather! LOL. You can register and get more details at www.flwoutdoors.com or PM me, if our committee can do anything to help with your planning.
