CBAF Folsom Tournament
CBAF announces less expensive bass tournament alternative - $20 Turkey Shoot
Are Entry Fees getting a little too much for you? But you still love bass fishing and enjoy the competition? The Christian Bass Anglers Fellowship announces an alternative. Many of us have fished a lot of tournaments over the years and enjoy it but are looking for something less expensive that still offers the fun of fishing, a great family environment and friendly competition. We’re talking much less expensive. How does $20.00 a boat sound? The staff is all volunteers, with many years of experience, who just want to see everyone have a great time without breaking the bank. The CBAF has a great reputation for professionally run events, great food, and fellowship. It’s winner take all up to 15 boats, 16-25, we pay two places and 26 + three places. A $20.00 Team Big fish option is available. This price also makes it possible for a dad to take his son or daughter or wife out fishing at a great prize.
Our first tournament this season is at Folsom Lake on March 23, 2013 out of Granite Bay. Pre-registration by email pbakerfam@aol.com , or Fax the form to 209-852-0159 or just call give us you and your partners name or call 209-852-0157. Simple as that, or register and pay at the Lake. Have question? I’d love to hear from you. Registration form attached.

Re: CBAF Folsom Tournament
Sounds like fun Paul...
So I imagine it's the standard stuff when it comes to limit, size and all that... anything different that folks that are interested should know about?
Open to all anglers correct?
Do you already know how many your gonna run this season or waiting to see how turn out goes?
All Folsom events?
tried to think of a few questions that others might have...
I hope you get a bunch of interest in this idea... I'll support you whenever available...

Re: CBAF Folsom Tournament
Hi Randy and thanks for the questions. This will be an "open to anyone" tournament! We hope to draw not just the regular tournament guys but with the reduced costs maybe this will be an opportunity for the family to fish together i.e Spouses, Son, Father, Daughter, Grand Parent or Grand Kids. We are going to emphasize Family, Fellowship, Fun and Fish!
We will use our standard tournament rules including 13" fish, 5 fish limit and the normal penalties for dead fish or late penalties. We hope this first event will gather some interest from those new to tournaments without hurting their pocket book and in a more relaxed atmosphere. I know I'll be fishing with either my Son or one of my Grand Kids and not have to worry about how many or how much, rather just enjoying a day on the water and some awesome fellowship.
I hope you can join us on the 23rd at Granite Bay. Launch time, and sign up time will be posted soon.

Re: CBAF Folsom Tournament
Pardon the rookie question but what is a turkey shoot?? How is it different from a reg tourney?
Re: CBAF Folsom Tournament
Dean,
I'll give this a try and anyone who's smarter can chime in. I think a Turkey Shoot is a "unofficial tournament" meaning just a bunch getting together to fish for bragging rights. Yes fish are weighed and there's usually the "standard rules applied" but no or very little money involved. Usually it's done without permits or much publicity or advertisement.
What we are doing is really official as we will have the required paperwork from the state, apply our normal rules and penalties as they apply. We are calling it a "turkey shoot" because of the low entry fees and the fact that we are stressing the fellowship and fun more than the fees and payout. We are trying to reach ALL of the bass fishing community rather than just those who can afford the larger tournaments.
I hope this helps and I'm sure someone else will explain it better than I.
Thanks
Dick

Re: CBAF Folsom Tournament
Great to see the interest out there. We are only a couple weeks out so please let us know if you plan on coming so we can put a burger on for you. Yep, just $20 per boats with $20 big fish option. Just a fun time fishing and enjoying this great sport without taking out a second mortgage. Folsom Lake, Granite Bay March 23rd. Call or email me for Registration forms. 209-852-0157 or pbaakerfam@aol.com. Another reason we are calling it a "Turkey Shoot" is that it all cash, 100% pay back, no plaques. Give it a try.

Re: CBAF Folsom Tournament
As we're only days from our Folsom event, I would like to update the event schedule. We will take registrations at the Granite Bay upper ramp near the bathrooms, Registration will be from 5:00 am to 6:00 am and launch will be from the lower ramp at safe light. Weigh in time and location will be given out at the registration so please stop by even if you have preregistered. There will be a BBQ shortly after the weigh in so please stick around for that.
The entry fee is $20 a boat!!!!! and a $20
(per team) big fish option.
We hope to see you on Saturday morning for a day of fun fellowship and fish!

Re: CBAF Folsom Tournament
Glad you liked it and had a good time!
We tried something new and it seemed to draw a lot of interest. The next one is at the Delta in September. You can check the schedule at our web site
http://www.thecbaf.com for more info.
We are really going to need help with Pros (boaters) for our annual Kids Bass Camp in May. The info is also on our web site. Please pass it on to anyone you know with a boat that might want to "make a difference" in a kids life for half a day. The launch and lunch are free and you can go back out and fish the rest of the day.
Thanks
