I see a recent 2 day tourney collected $51,700 in entry fees and paid out $39,260 in cash awards. Around 76% back. 82% back to pro's but only 65% back to co's. $12,440 in expenses? Is that normal for these kind of events? There are team tourneys where I live that pay back 90% of entry fees and 100% in options.

Yes it's normal and expected. They put on a big year end classic that needs to be payed for. There are boats up for grabs and lots of cash. This event also yields no basic entry. When people start fishing and supporting again one day the sponsors will come. Until then the orgs need to keep a lot aside to make the championship worth it. If they had bigger turnouts at the standard events sponsors would fork over more and our paybacks would match those of our local team events.

I dont know why its "normal" or expected BBT is doing 100% payback in the options drawing 100+ boats, big Championship with over 40 grand in CASH given away at the TOC.http://www.bestbasstournaments.com/TOC.aspx

A 24% rake of the pot is a big rake regardless, thats like uncle sam type of rake

Best payout thats left is the Anglers Marine Customer Appreciation Tour. 100% payback, full disclosure of money collected at the event, free Tri Tip BBQ, seperate AOY cash paid by sponsors not the anglers and a New Ranger boat give away that anyone can win at the end without cashing a check. Next one is this weekend at Lake El Capitan in San Diego. We have the BEST sponsors in the industry, Ranger, Tracker, Mercury, Lowrance, Power Pole and Lucas Oil. 83 boats at the first one. Gonna be fun this weekend. Rick G.
