Will Berryessa "turnover" before this weekend?...

These FPT anglers are serious and and ready to get back in the game

NAPA, Ca. - In any competition we all hope to see skill, heart, drama, and high stakes. And usually when all those ingredients are there, the end result really doesn’t matter.

And this Saturday, Sept 28th on Lake Berryessa, a legion of the west’s most skilled amateur anglers will, after a 3-month hiatus, converge on one of the best lakes in the west to continue on with an exciting 6-event schedule that began in early March and continues on through October as each team will endeavor to match their angling skills against one another for big cash, and the accolades that will recognize them as the best – if only for a little while.

Saturday’s event dubbed “The Grapes of Wrath” will be the 5th event of the year, and while FPT anglers have not felt the excitement of competition since the last event held in early June on the California delta, you can best believe that many are ready to jump back into the fray and finish what they started.

“We’ve been chomping at the bit to get back in the ring so to speak”, noted an anxious Aaron Whitlow, who with team partner Brian Piazza, currently sit in 22nd place in the overall YTD points standings that will ultimately determined what teams will be invited to the exclusive field of only 75 teams that will participate in the prestigious Future Pro Tour Classic Championship event that will be held on Clear Lake in March of 2014.

“With this warm weather, Berryessa has been fishing a bit tough, but we think that will work in our favor because success in this event will depend on the deployment of both skill and focus - and we have plenty of both. We will make it to the Future Pro Tour Classic…believe that”.

And the “tough” conditions Aaron is referring to is the fact that though fall has arrived, the water temperatures have not dropped far enough yet to trigger Lake Berryessa bass to start a fall feeding frenzy which could translate in to the heavy limits anglers are looking for to win this event.

But in the final analysis, whether the lake temperatures fluctuate or remain steady, or whether a sudden cold front rolls through the area, one thing is for certain….and that is that the same conditions will exist for all competitors to deal with, and the team that remains focused and takes the time to solve the puzzle will end up in the winner’s circle and take home the “lions share” of a nice cash purse that will be awarded to the victor.

So there it is. Skill, drama, heart, and high stakes.

So why would you want to sit on the couch and wait for the results of this event when you could just as easily be out there “chunking and winding” with the rest of the guys and gals having a ton of fun in the process!

Remember, if you wish to sign up for this exciting event, you still have time. Simply call the Future Pro Tour offices today and we will get you signed up. Or, if you wish, you can sign up the morning of the event, beginning at 4am, at the Pleasure Cove Marina store where $5 per person limited memberships area available to those that can only fish this event.

We look forward to seeing you at Lake Berryessa this Saturday!
