I am also looking to purchase a new graph for the front of my boat. I was looking at the Elite 7 HDI and it does look like the best for the money. I was woundering what the next level of graph would be. Looking for "dowmscan/structure scan" for sure or even sideview, not sure if I would use chartplotter or not. Is there something better for under $1500 or just a waste of extra cash?
Thanks,

Re: New Graph Elite 7 HDI??
Also will I need a different type of trolling motor transducer or can I use the regular Lowrance transducer?
Can structure scan be added to this model?
Can I mark waypoints?
Any help is appreciated

Re: New Graph Elite 7 HDI??
I had this unit, thinking it would be good enough and that I wouldnt need structure scan later. You cannot add structure scan. It does just about everything else though. I recently sold mine and bought a HB 998c HD SI. $1250 on ebay, 8" screen, SI, DI, 2D sonar, everything, for around $500 less than a comprable HDS 7. At first glance my Elite 7 was definately easier to navigate but I will figure this HB out.

Also, to mount it to the TM all you need is the mounting kit, uses the same transducer.

on this Elite 7 HDI, can you up load saved way points? and can you interlink it with the HDS9 touch screen for structure scan?

Re: New Graph Elite 7 HDI??
You can load waypoints on the Elite HDI but that is a stand alone unit, no networking. You will need to save a new waypoint on each unit. The Elite is the best value for the money. Sometimes it is about the budget and that is where this unit is a good option.
