LCX28c HD

Post by RXMAN »

Ken,
I'm having a problem with this unit where the depth gets locked at 1.3 ft. I could be moving or still and goes from normal to a locked depth for no reason. Only way to correct the problem is to shut down the unit and restart. Do I need to reset the unit? Hard reset or the one in the manual? Thanks.... :D

I would try a soft reset. The soft reset will not erase any waypoints or trails you have saved. A hard reset WILL erase all waypoints and trails in the unit.

To do a soft reset, start with the unit off. Press and hold the "Pages" key in and press and release the Power key. Keep holding the Pages key in until the unit is finished booting up. It will be on the map of the United States. This will reset the unit to the factory default settings. You will need to place all your overlay data on each page again but the waypoints are safe.

In addition to what Ken suggested, be sure you have the latest software update for your unit. I seem to remember there was an update to address this issue on the LCX units. Once you have the software up to date, select the transducer type and "Fresh Water" in the Advanced, Installation menu. When moving from place to place, if this unit is on the troller, put it in StandBy mode before pulling it out of the water. It will start reading depth much quicker this way.

NoCal,
Thanks... I tried the soft reset and it didn't correct the problem. I'll check the software but I think it's updated.
