12' valco on cal delta
saturday I'm going to take my 12 foot valco on the delta. I don't have much experience there and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on a good place to launch and fish for bass.

If you are launching at Buckley Cove in Stockton and depending on what size gas tank you have upper 14 Mile Slough and Disappointment Slough would be a good starting area. Good luck, have fun, and be safe out there.

If your talking about the HUGE picture of you in your boat.......it shows up fine on safari.
I would launch at paradise point. lots to fish right around there!

I've often brought my alum up there, and you do have to pay attention to that wind factor. Also, those pleasure boats can swamp you if you're not careful- as in up in the shallows, those waves double in size there- I've had some interesting times trying not to capsize. But overall, it's wonderful, just don't go miles so when the wind comes up you'll not have to fight for your life on the way home so much.

Re: 12' valco on cal delta
thanks for the info everyone!!! I actually fished the co pro teen tournament on the delta out of russos marina so i sort of have a feel for parts of the delta but not entirely. But I saw a lot of people on small aluminum boats while fishing and thought that I would give it a shot!!!
Re: 12' valco on cal delta
If you are coming from the south or southwest I would launch out of Russo's just because you can tuck in behind the wall or fish the docs and Sandmound.
If your coming from the southeast I would go out of Ladds and fish the Calaveras river or Smith canal which are both just minutes south of the inlet to the main channel from the ramp.
Northeast would be Paradise point where you can fish north up to White Slough, Potato Slough and Telegraph cut on the way up there!
The northwest would be B&W and you can fish the upper areas of the delta and into the sloughs and cuts which could get you into some spots and smallies!
Any of these will keep you close to the ramps and give you lots of places to tuck in and hide from the wind.
