Clear Lake this week 11/19/2014

Clear Lake this week 11/19/2015

Lake level is at minus .73 Rumsey, the first week we’ve actually seen the lake level rise, be it ever so slightly, and with the skies this morning and resulting rain, there is indeed some hope.

Surface temperatures this morning was 58 degrees, and has been topping out between 59-61 degrees in the late afternoon. As a result the bite remains good for quality fish to 9 lbs for those who choose to brave the elements. This morning’s bite was very good early and fish continued to cooperate until we got off at noon. Limits in the mid 20’s to low 30’s continue to fall for the LV, BDS cranks, and top hooks fished in 2 to 15 feet of water. There’s also an added, frequently overlooked bite beginning to heat up as well, and that’s the jerk bait bite, which also means the serious “glide bait bite” , and A-rig bite should really begin in earnest with this weather system, especially when it clears out and it gets cold!

Launching remains the same around the lake with the 5th Street ramp in Lakeport, and the Clearlake Oaks facilities your best bets right now. I would suggest staying close to the docks when launching as there are some thrust holes which are beginning to get bad away from the docks.

Redbud remains closed due to low water and construction. The construction is looking much better this week as the parking lots are nearly done. This facility will remain closed however until the lake level reaches plus 1 Rumsey. However, when this facility does re-open it will really be nice, and yes, enforcement of all types is supposed to increase when this is all completed.

Tackle shops around the lake remain OPEN including Limit Out Tackle which re-opened this morning.
Mr. Higgins called to say he is now open 7 days a week thru the end of the year. Mon, Tues, Wed, 6a-10am and Thurs thru Sunday 6am until 5pm. Clearlake Bait & Tackle is now open 7 days as well, Mon thru Sat 6:30am to 5pm and Sunday 6:30am to noon, and Clearlake Outdoors is open Mon thru Saturday 7am to 5 pm daily. I’m sure the coming Holidays may change this and we’ll update accordingly should that be the case.
