Dual pro charger question
Dual pro charger question
I have a 2007 z20 with a ranger edition 3 bank dual pro charger. I went out today to plug my batteries in for a bit to give them a maintenance charge as it has been about three weeks since used. All three banks immediately go to green but I just happened to be doing some other work and noticed something I have not noticed before. Bank one would change from green to five red lights then quickly switch to two red lights and then back to green. All three banks were doing this. The banks were mostly staying green but this cycle would occur randomly every couple of minutes. The charger was only plugged in for about 5 minutes before I noticed this. Cranking battery is brand new and trolling batteries are a couple years old but still running strong. Do I have an issue with the charger or is this just the charger analyzing the charge status?

Re: Dual pro charger question
I have never seen a dual pro cycle like that and have had them since my first boat. I would check and see if you have a loose wire on the boat plug, could be loosing the electrical connection and starting the sequence over.

I have tested the battery, checked and cleaned all connections, disconnected all leads, replaced the inline fuse. Everything I can think of. Here is. Link with a video of what it is doing. http://youtube.com/watch?v=TOgH6EPGU6Y

Re: Dual pro charger question
It looks like you have an intermittent short in the unit itself.
I would send it in to Dual Pro for service. Even if it's no longer in warranty, it will be cheaper than a new unit.
