I have an HDI Elite 7 with a insight maps on my console, and I want to replace my bow/trolling motor unit with another HDI Elite 7, bass pro shops has this unit on sale, but it comes with the navonics map as the standard map. I want to be able to share way points on each unit, are the maps compatable with eac other?
Any help would be excellent.

Re: networking 2 HDI 7 with different mapping programs
The mapping data that is preloaded into a unit is specific to that unit. When a Waypoint is set, it is set on a longitude and latitude on the face of the earth. This specific spot is marked by the Waypoint and it doesn't matter what map data the Waypoint is overlaid onto, it is still the same "spot" on the face of the earth.
You could have no mapping data at all in the Chart screen, just a white background, drive around your local lake, go to a point and place a Waypoint. Next week on the same Chart screen with the white background, you could drive right to that same "spot" on the point where you placed the Waypoint. You drive around a lake by looking where you are going, do not look at the map data on your Chart screen for navigation. The contour lines are there for you to discover new areas that may hold fish.
