Gel Coat Repair

Post by Zebra13 »

Gents,

I went bump this past week up at Clear Lake and am now in need of some gel coat repair to my Phoenix. The cracks are on the gunnel and extend over multiple flaked colors. Who do you guys suggest? I live in San Luis Obispo County, and will travel.

Thanks,
Justin

FYI...Just got boat back from smooth as glass the work they did looks good but in the process I got stains in carpet a bent compartment lid and a mess of a boat to clean up. they acted like it was no big deal.
Would not take my boat there again

I've used Smooth as Glass twice, once for my Stratos and once for an RV. Easy to deal with and did a great job both times. Matched the factory flake perfectly. Couldn't even tell where they did the repairs. I'd take my boat there in a heartbeat. To each their own I guess.

I have had work done there on two boats, work was exceptional, on time and price as quoted, communication was top notch, I would say if you were unhappy with something you should have brought to their attention immediately, all the work I have had done there has been top notch, boats came back cleaner then when they arrived, Jeff has always been strait up every time I have dealt with him.

Gents,

I took the boat to both Smooth as Glass and Benny's for estimates, which were nearly identical. I went with Smooth as Glass and am extremely happy with the result. The repair, which covers three different metal colors, is barely noticeable in direct sunlight. Other than that, you can't see it. Henry is their metal flake specialist and does one helluva job.

Great people, great service. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Justin,

Glad it worked out for you it must be nice to have your boat back :) I need to make an appointment to clean up some bottom scrapes myself. Thanks for sharing your input we need to support people who in fact treat us all good! RR
