OK , I have a really dumb question . My son got me into rip bait fishing this year and we have a local Lake in Morgan Hill
that can be awesome to catch numbers and really learn the technique .
My question , I only used Lucky Craft baits , and as we all do , out of the 15 or so I bought , 2 ended up catching me a ton of fish .
I had to upgrade the hooks on both of my favorite colors of Pointer 100 and now one of them quickly sinks TAIL down .
I can hear the rattle , so I know it's not full of water , does the "ball" possibly get stuck and not move forward ?
Is there a solution ? Hate to retire a favorite bait .Is this common .
Thanks

Lucky Craft Pointer ?
Re: Lucky Craft Pointer ?
I have about 30 Lucky Craft rip bait in 5 different models. Changing the hooks has never been a problem on the 100 pointer as long as they have been close to the same size as what was on there. You should be able to feel the ball move if you hold bait upside down in your hand and rock back and forth ,try on one you know is OK. There are multiple chambers in these baits that have rattles so water could be in there and rattle could still be heard . Put bait in frig for a while to cool air in bait then submerge bait in warm water, if bait has leak bubbles will come out as warm water heats up air inside the bait. My favorite Lucky craft is the 110 Flashminnow.

You can try making the rear hook smaller again.

Robert , Mark ,
Thanks , I will try both suggestions .
I think the ball gets stuck --- when you cast it out it should go to the tail , then when you "rip" if forward that ball is supposed to shift forward
and balance the bait . I would hate to retire my "luckiest" Lucky craft bait .

Re: Lucky Craft Pointer ?
I almost always upsize my hooks when I can without killing a baits action... More fish in the boat
Gamakatsu came out with their high end Japan treble a year or so ago. These are a lighter wire, very strong without flex, and razor sharp. They weigh a less than standard trebles by a bunch. They've had these in Japan for a long time and finally we have them here. They cost a bit more but with certain baits that are super touchy about hook weight.... like a Vision 110....These Gammys are the DEAL!!!
