The last few weeks I have had a blast on the delta catching a lot of fish, it has really been fun. The last couple trips though, I have tried using different baits/lures to catch bigger bass. I have used a jig lately in an attempt to catch bigger bass, and it seemed to work. I noticed I caught fewer fish using a jig, but they were a bit larger on average than the fish I caught on my go-to senko. Don't get me wrong, I have caught real good bass on the senko, but the dinks like the senko too!
So what are your favorite baits you use when you want to up-size your catch?

The Cal Delta is different than our "normal" lakes. There's so much vegetation and the fish live in it. Punching and frog fishing will get you better quality lots of times. But, that Senko probably accounts for more big bass in the Delta than any other bait period. Senkos catch big fish and win lots of tournaments. Also, I've always felt that reactions baits like spinner baits, top water, jerk baits and others increase your overall quality of fish. This is why I love to throw reaction baits in tournaments. I feel like I can usually catch better grade of fish. Also, on Delta I throw a lot of the bigger Senkos in 6" and 7". Be sure and upsize you hooks and line as well. I love the 5/0 and 6/0 Monster EWG hooks from Gamakatsu. They are awesome for bigger senkos. Good luck and post some pic here of future big ones.

I SWEAR by the swimjigs and other reaction baits all year round. in the colder months the bigger bass tend to chase a bait down more and its a BIG bass bait. Jigs and BIG worms/creatures are always best bets on bigger bass year round.
