Bass Fishing Forum - Westernbass.com

Anybody ever fished Rollins Lake near Grass Valley, of course their website tauts that they have "great fishing for trout and warmwater species, including bass and catfish..."

It's only about 45 minutes away for me, so it is quite tempting.

Any info is welcome (fishing, best launch ramps, areas, etc.)

I have not been lately but have heard twice the water is low and muddy.

I've only been to Long Ravine (exit Colfax). They have pretty good facilities there. Use to go with friends to get drunk there on weekends. I know trout fishing is good, but I have yet to catch any lm, just a bunch of smallies up to 2 1/2. Good Luck

Sounds like the fishin is O.K. and the drinking is great, I will certainly keep that in mind when I wanna fish AND get trashed!

BassManDan, I was up there two weeks ago and the fishing sucked I was up there thursday - Sunday. I caught 5 fish all weekend and they were all small mouth about a pound. No late night top water bite or even morning top water nothing. Caught all on drop shot with arrons majic. On the weekend forget about it all the ski boats and jet ski's made the water muddy didnt catch anything on saturday or sunday. Watch out for the Sheriff on the WEEKDAYS they have no problem pulling you over for some stupid stuff. But on the weekend when all the dumb A$$ are on the water the sherriff is no where to be found. of course LOL But all nice place to camp with the family and will be going back for sure just during the weekdays though... good luck.
