We are doing alright (from looking at the list) but we always need more - that way we can get any waitlisted teens confirmed and on the water. If you are considering it, get signed up!

Ok thanks Cooch! Figure I'd do this as I have been wanting too since I was 17, and this is my last year to do so. Just kinda wish there was a different weigh-in for age groups. I feel kinda weird fishing against 13 year old. Haha, oh well!

Dan, I currently only have 57 boaters signed up. I will be plugging in another 4 teens tonight that will take us to 81 teens. Even though we turned that Teen reg page off, as we do every year when I recieve 70 entrees, they still keep tricklin in.

We still have a ways to go, before we can assure all these teens we will be able to git them in. We're on an "alright" pace as Gator stated, we're still 3+ weeks out and many of the guys have yet to sign up due to being unsure of their own personal commitments.

We are definately on a big push, and I can't emphasize enough to guys who wanna join and help us out this year, to please sign up via that Boater reg page on the Pro-Teen link above. It is the scale I use to measure where we're at with the boaters. So if'n you guys know of anyone, let em know, have em call me if they need info, or just point em to the reg page.

What about a pro who has 2 boats. Would he lend one to someone who fished it last year who lost his boat this year due to the economy?

and register on the link below. Trust me when I say your time could not be better spent! Let's get all these teens out on the water with no worries!

Typically, we like to pair em up with one teen to a boat. In a pinch, we have had to pair teens with a boater in the past, due to late minute cancelations or unexpected teens showing up that morning. But it's been rare over the 12 years of doing this event that we've had ta double up.

Let's keep our fingers crossed buddy, and maybe somone in that position can help ya out. I have another boater in the same position. In the event it doesn't work out, we would love ta have ya come down and participate on land, we can never have enough land volunteers for the event as well!

What if you can't make the Saturday meeting? Is it mandatory?

Saturday is recommended - not required - it does make the Sunday morning go smoother if you are already registered.

Hey Cooch,
I am no "Pro", but I am interested in helping get a youngster out on the water...the only problem is that I am currently not 100% that I have that day open. What do you recommend, just showing up the morning of or day before and seeing if you need another boater? Calling the day before? I would hate to register and then find that I could not make it and end up leaving someone hanging...Is it ok to show up on the Saturday before and register, or is there a deadline for boaters to register?

Thanks,
Randy

You can do it either way Randy if'n yer not sure. That registration form really helps me to determine if I need to keep recruiting boaters, and/or can I allow more teens in. I know there is a group of guys who don't register, they just alays show up ready ta go. And then there are guys like yourself, who are unsure and won't know until the last minute. And then there are the guys who do register, and as happens in all our lives at one time or another, something comes up and they can't make it. Hence, I never stop recruiting boaters until that last kid is paired up and on the ramp heading out to fish. It seems to work out perfectly fer most years, 2007 was the only year, where we actually had 4 more boaters than teens.

More importantly, you boaters need to understand, just because we call this the Pro-Teen, there is no strict requirements for our boaters to be only Pro-tournament, bass fisherman. We have alot of local anglers, club guys, the team crew, as well as tour fisherman, who come participate in this event with us. In the eyes of these teens, their parens, families and myself, you step up to take a kid out, YER A PRO!

Come on out and join us, it is truely a blast and experience not to be fergotten.

As Gator mentioned, the Saturday check in is not mandatory. It does though, since the event has gotten so big and kids and their families now come from out of town for the entire weekend, allow us to pre-check in and pair them with their boaters. It's much easier on most of us when we get 50% of the field taken care of on Saturday, all they gotta do is hook up and launch Sunday morning, and then we only have to check in and pair the remaining 50% in the 4:30am-5:30am period on Sunday morning prior to blast off. Releiving the load on that morning, has allowed us to have everyone in the water and ready ta blast off at 6:00am sharp! Heck, it's been pre-light the past fer years and there has even been a lil fireworks display, celebrating the fact all teens are in!!

Randy, I am not a "Pro" either, Far from it. I did this event last year as a boater and had a great time. I hope you can make it. I would do it again if I didnt have to sell my boat due to the economy. Great time. I have 3 daughter and they love to fish. Last year I drew the only girl that entered the tourny. Had a great time on the water and she caught fish. Im gunna miss out this year but I might be there to help out from land on Sun.

Hey John, this is C.O.Pro-Teen Classic XII! Aren't ya glad we combined the two boards now! We've drawn teens from as far south as San Diego, Utah to the east and Washington to the north. I remember when Korny first introduce me to the Bennett brothers, Justin Lucas, John Bilhiemer, Lucas Boden and Sean Alarid(No doubt I have left a few of ya anglers out, do fergive me!). We've watched these guys come full circle, they are now fishing at very high levels and have come full circle and fish with us a Pros. From this event the Delta Teen Team spawned, it's a coool deal fer us to introduce this kids to the sport, we have a ball with it. Ya outa come up and join us some time.

Thank you goes out to Glen at Mel Cottons. He is coming over from San Jose to be part of the infamous ground crew, and is soliciting some additional boaters from their bass club as well!

Thank you again Glen, I know the teens, and parents appreciate it big time!

We can never have enough ground support! One of the things we have done for the pro's every year, is cover their launch fee, and provide a valet parking service. So that boater shows up at the top of the ramp, backs the boat onto the ramp, climbs in with his teen and one of our guys parks the rig out back, and then pulls them out at the end. It's a well oiled process we have at Russo's now, and we can always use guys who are comfortable in helping with this. There are also many other pieces of the day including the big weigh-in party, the BBQ that follows and the raffle.

It's an awesome party really, that we put on for the bass fishing comunity here, come on out and join us!

This is really an awsome and one of a kind event, I cant wait for it as this year will be my first year fishing outta the pointy end of the boat and not as a teen!! I myself am far from being a pro but I do have a boat and that in it self I think is half the fun for these teens, is actually getting to go fish out of a bass boat!! Now if I can only get whatever teen I draw on some decent fish!! haha

Jerry,
Yes you can sign up! Just an FYI there is no deadline for boaters to sign up! So c'mon guys, lets try to make this event 100 or more boats. We came close last year with I belive 94 or 95 boats! This is going to be a BLAST!!!...Now if I can only find a boat to use so the I can be a boater.

if you go to the saturday check in, you will find out who your boater is, and meet him. I would recogmend doing this, that way the two of you can work out a game plan for the next day. That way you are already prepared for the morning. Good luck!

Actually the Saturday pre-check in is 3:00pm-5:00pm
Sunday morning's check in is from 4:30am-5:30am, Blast off at 6:00am.

For those teens who have not participated in the event in the past, your parents can expect a phone call next week directly from me going over all the details and answering any questions they or you might have. You can also go out to the Pro-Teen pages and find a completed check list, which explains everything. http://www.westernbass.com/dotcom/prote ... checklist/
