BOARDMAN, Oregon – The BAM Tournament Trail travels to the Columbia River for the third stop of the Super 60 Pro Tour’s 2025 season, competing August 22-24 in the televised Bass Boat Technologies three-day event presented by Tackle Warehouse and the Boardman Community Development Association.
Returning to the Columbia after his 2024 BAM Pro Tour victory, Conrad Demecs of Surprise Arizona, is anticipating a similar summer pattern that he found during previous experience at the fishery.
“The fish are current-based here, and depending on the current – if it is as heavy as it was last year – I think the fish will position the same way,” he shared. “But the research I’ve gathered has said the current slows some in August, so it may not be that way.”
With research, Demecs has found another change that he will likely encounter and that is a difference in the baitfish.
“There is less smelt that flows through in July; so, once August hits they are just not as prevalent and so the smallies will key in on different forage,” he said.
He plans to throw a jighead minnow and an 88 Baits A-rig to tempt his limit; and believes the W will go to a ‘scoper.
“I throw the minnow on an Alpha Angler ShAAkr with a Daiwa Exist reel and the Alabama rig on an Alpha Angler Wide Glide a Daiwa Tatula SV 150,” Demecs stated.
He hopes to make the Championship Sunday field cut, anticipating it will take 36-pounds or 65 keepers to qualify.
“I think the big bass will be a six-pound largemouth,” he added. “And on the last day, I think, it will take another 18- to 20-pounds to win.”
Demecs along with the remainder of the Super 60 anglers will compete in this mid-year bass battle for $50,000 cash and additional points in the Angler of the Year (AOY) standings.
