New Lexa HD 500 to Headline Show

DAIWA exhibits new reel and much more at the Indiana Muskie Classic

FOOTHILL RANCH, CA (May 15, 2024) – All to support fish stocking efforts in select Hoosier state lakes and raising awareness of the muskie fishing opportunities in Indiana, DAIWA is again part of this coming weekend’s 26th annual Indiana Muskie Classic. As one of the tournament’s presenting sponsors, DAIWA’s onsite crew will also be showcasing its new ‘muskie-ready’ Lexa HD 500 baitcasting reels at the event’s registration night activities at Ye Olde Tackle Box in North Webster, Ind., along with the tournament banquet and fundraising night.

Organized by the Indiana Chapter of Muskies, Inc. and attracting muskie anglers from throughout the Midwest, the funds raised over the event’s past 25 years have provided the financial resources for the Indiana DNR to stock the tournament waters of Webster, Tippecanoe, and Barbee lake chains found in the north-central area of the Hoosier state. The Indianapolis-based event has also taken the lead in adding new muskie fishing waters in Indiana with stocking and habitat improvement suitable to support muskies at Kokomo Reservoir.

“The Indiana Muskie Classic provides us with a great venue and opportunity to highlight DAIWA’s commitment to providing quality tackle to the muskie market,” said Rick Stagowski, who assists DAIWA’s sales efforts with tackle dealers throughout the Midwest states. “And as we did last year’s with the DAIWA’s Ardito Muskie Travel Rods and Bessie muskie lures, the tournament is the ideal event to introduce the new Lexa HD 500 reels. It has the needed line capacity and durability to handle the biggest muskies out there, and due to volunteer efforts from the Indiana Muskies Chapter, we’re hoping to see a 50-inch-plus fish landed on one of these new reels this weekend.”

DAIWA’s Lexa HD 500 series – offered in both right- and left-hand retrieve and multiple gear ratio models – joins the tackle manufacturer’s expanding lineup of rods, reels, lures, and braid focused on muskie fishing. The reels combine power, precision, and durability crafted with an aluminum frame to remain lightweight for comfortable all-day casting, Magforce cast control for smooth casting, and DAIWA’s Ultimate Tournament Drag (UTD) system provide consistent and smooth drag pressure for maximum control.

The new Lexa 500 is ideal to pair up with DAIWA’s PROREX extra-heavy power muskie rods to throw big ‘pounder’ plastics, DAIWA’s fast-sinking Bessie swimbaits and classic big fish lures like a double-bladed Cowgirl inline spinner.

A small number of spaces are still available to interested anglers – the tournament waters are limited to 90 boats. For details visit https://www.facebook.com/groups/IndianaMuskieClassic.
