Pro Lead Changes Hands, Co Lead Holds for Day 2 at Clear Lake FLW

Joe Uribe Jr. leads pro side and Rick Grover leads co side at Day 2 on Clear Lake for the final FLW Rayovac Western Division event of 2015.

Joe Uribe Jr. weighed in 20 pounds, 13 ounces on the second day of the FLW Rayovac on Clear Lake to take the lead going into the third and final day. Uribe was the only pro to weigh in more than 20 pounds each of the two days for a total of 44 pounds, 8 ounces.  Uribe also clinched the Western Division Strike King Angler of the Year title after today.

Uribe says fishing has been a grind; today he went out hoping to connect on the morning bite but only caught 1 decent fish and only 2 fish in the box by 10 am.  Focusing on docks and shade, saying he “was kind of pre-fishing today” due to the fact most of his key areas “died out.”  He is optimistic for a new spot he found in the afternoon where he and his co-angler caught a limit worth of good fish.

“I’m just throwing one bait and casting a ton,” covering ground and hopeful of bagging the winning limit tomorrow.

From the back of the boat, Rick Grover, of Anglers Marine brought in a 18 pound, 5 ounce bag to maintain his lead in the co-angler division with a two day total of 39-5.  This week has been Grover’s first trip to Clear Lake since the late 70’s and he is taking full advantage of what Clear Lake has to offer.  Saying he has been fortunate with the two pros he has been able fish slow to get most of his key fish.

A two way tie for 2015 Strike King Co-Angler of the year was broken by a strong performance from Daniel Leue who currently sits in second place behind Grover with a 36-11 two day total heading into the final day.

Day 3 weigh in is Saturday at Konocti Vista Casino at 3pm.  With a good chance of rain coming in tomorrow many of the top 10 pros and cos are excited to see what will come in to the scales tomorrow.
