Ray Scott's 84th Birthday Celebrated by The Bass Reporters

Orlando, Fla. - How do you celebrate the 84th birthday of a legend? You have a special edition of "The Bass Reporters," that's how!

August 24, 2017 is the 84th birthday of B.A.S.S. founder and fishing industry pioneer, Ray Scott, and if you make a living in the outdoors industry, you probably owe a debt of gratitude to the former insurance salesman turned bass fishing entrepreneur who created the modern tournament format, founded the largest membership organization in fishing, spread catch-and-release to the bass world, fought for clean fishing water and taught generations about conservation and safety tools like livewells and outboard kill switches. Then he went on to blaze new territory in wildlife nutrition with his Whitetail Institute.

Ray Scott is bass fishing's biggest advocate, staunchest evangelist, biggest showman and most important influence.

Yesterday was his birthday! Come celebrate with "The Bass Reporters" on http://advancedangler.com/features/the-bass-reporters-for-8242017-special-edition-happy-birthday-ray-scott/ and MichianaOutdoorsNews.com.

"If you know anything at all about bass fishing history, you understand that Ray Scott has been its most important force," says Ken Duke, managing editor of Fishing Tackle Retailer and one of the regular cast of "The Bass Reporters." "Without Ray, I doubt any of us would know about Forrest Wood, Johnny Morris or Kevin VanDam because Ray created the opportunities for them and many others. With our program, we hope to remind everyone of his impact … and to wish him a happy birthday."

"The Bass Reporters" are Steve Price, Louie Stout, Ken Duke and Dan O'Sullivan — four longtime outdoors media professionals who have covered the sport from how-to to where-to to the highest levels of competition for the last four decades. The program is hosted on AdvancedAngler.com and MichianaOutdoorsNews.com.
