SCIENCE DOMINATES AS JORDAN LEE WINS MLF BASS PRO TOUR AGAIN

Science Dominates as Jordan Lee Wins MLF Bass Pro Tour on Lake St.Clair

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Taking to the shores of Lake St. Clair out of Macomb County, Michigan, Berkley and Abu Garcia pro Jordan Lee knew that science was on his side as each rod on his boat deck was rigged with Berkley PowerBait MaxScent. Using actual science from actual fish biologists, the Berkley PowerBait MaxScent lineup has been proven to be the clear answer when wanting an edge against the crowd to catch more and bigger fish. After a dominating final day performance of 23 pounds, 4 ounces, Lee won his second career Major League Fishing Bass Pro Tour event – his Berkley PowerBait Maxscent baits leading the charge.

“This week Berkley PowerBait MaxScent was the difference maker. I have never had a smallmouth eat a bait that deep like that consistently over several days of competition,” said Lee. “I was using a Berkley PowerBait MaxScent Flatnose Jerk Shad and a Berkley PowerBait MaxScent Lil’ General to try and mimic the perch in Lake St. Clair and it was impressive how fast and how far these fish would travel to come eat my bait. When they ate it, they swallowed it. Every angler knows when they’re doing that – you found the deal.”

MaxScent in tow, Lee utilized two different spinning rod-and-reel setups to do his damage on St. Clair; a 6-foot 10-inch Medium Light Abu Garcia Signature Series Jordan Lee spinning rod paired with a 30 sized Abu Garcia Zenon spinning reel, as well as a 7-foot Medium Fast Abu Garcia Fantasista X spinning rod combined with a 2500 sized Abu Garcia Revo Rocket spinning reel. Each rod-and-reel setup was equipped with 6-pound Berkley X5 Jordan Lee braid to a 8-pound Berkley Trilene 100% Fluorocarbon leader, giving Lee the power and confidence to reel in each smallmouth bass through grass and rock to get them in the boat and one step closer to $100,000 and another MLF Bass Pro Tour trophy.

“For this event, I spent most of my practice up in Canada using my forward-facing sonar to locate schools of fish, not casting due to it not being season yet,” said Lee. “One thing I noticed was how these smallmouth would relate to grass lines, hard bottom and basically anywhere there was bigger perch in the area, which is what clued me into throwing the MaxScent Flatnose Jerk Shad. The winning area for me was basically a needle in a haystack, something anglers dream of finding every tournament.”

While this win is a first for Lee on this body of water, he has quite the history of close finishes on northern fisheries, including Lake St. Clair.

“It has been a couple years since I have won so this is a big confidence booster for me, especially against the competition that is on the MLF Bass Pro Tour. Several years ago when I was on the Elites, I was leading going into the final day on St. Clair and lost, so this is some really satisfying redemption for me on this lake.”

“Jordan is the epitome of an angler that is a great steward for the sport and a representative for the brands that support him,” said Pure Fishing’s Vice President of Marketing Communications, Marc Kempter. “He has been an integral part of the growth of our brands and with this win, we have no doubt he will continue to build upon the great career he’s worked so hard for.”
