In the fishing world, several megabrands manufacture and distribute tackle and gear for multiple different brands. Pradco Brands is one of those, and they produce popular bass products like BOOYAH, Yum, Bomber, Rebel, Bandit Lures, and War Eagle spinnerbaits. They also have classic brands like Cotton Cordell, Heddon, Smithwick, and Arbogast.
With that many brands, they release some great new products every year. Here is what they unveiled at ICAST 2019.
Hula Popper 2.0
Few, if any, lures have the same legendary name as the Hula Popper. First released in 1948, it may be the first topwater lure you ever used. It might even be the first bait your grandfather used to catch a bass. Now, there is an updated version.
The Hula Popper 2.0 features the same size, shape, and action of the original with a few modern twists. They updated the hook hangers, added some HD colors, and paired it with a feathered treble hook.
The HD colors are a crackle finish and include colors like White Zombie, Coach Hog, Blue Kill, and Black Death. The new version is a two-inch, 3/8 oz. bait that retails for $7.99.
BOOYAH Jason Christie Covert Series Spinnerbait
Pro bass angler Jason Christie has won tour-level tournaments with several techniques, but he is most at home in shallow, stained water with a spinnerbait. He loves them and now has his signature series from BOOYAH.
The colors used for the Covert Spinnerbait head, skirt, and blades are all by his design after years of fishing spinnerbaits in different conditions. They are also unique as there are some interesting colors selected and things that other brands do not make. For example, some of the spinnerbaits have red and orange heads, and he says these are best for early in the year when the water is often high and muddy.
Some baits in the lineup also feature one orange blade to help bass locate it in dirty water. All of the baits feature Hildebrandt blades which are well-regarded for quality and flash.
Other unique aspects of this spinnerbaits are a unique head design to keep it from rolling over and a 17-7 stainless steel wire that helps to add vibration from the blades.
They come in sizes from 3/8 oz. to a one-ounce version and retail from $8.99 to $9.99.
New Sizes for the BOOYAH Pad Crasher, Toad Runner, and Prank
The popular Pad Crasher hollow frog is now available in a smaller size. The Pad Crasher Jr. is ¼ ounce and retails for $6.49.
The Toad Runner is another proven bait for BOOYAH. This frog has a moldable tail to adjust the plopping action you desire based on the conditions. Now, it comes in a downsized version. The Toad Runner Jr. is ½ oz. and retails for $8.99.
The Prank is a unique bait design that has the body of a topwater popper with an added crankbait lip. This allows it to be fished above and below the surface. Now, they have added a bigger 3” size that weighs 3/8 oz. It retails for $9.99.
Feathered Dressed Spooks
All walking baits are often called “spooks,” but there is only one original. The Heddon Super Spook and Super Spook Jr. are iconic lures. This year they added a little extra to them with the new Feathered Dressed versions that have a quality feather trailer at the rear of the bait.
New Colors, Sizes, and Shapes for YUM
The lineup of YUM soft plastics is one of the most popular out there because they are relatively inexpensive, but still excellent quality. They added some new colors and sizes to popular shapes and added a new design.
The Swim’N Grub is their take on the proven fish-catcher that is the single tail grub. It is said to be great at all retrieve speeds and can be fished solo or on the back of a jig.

The Christie Craw now comes in Black Gold Flake, Bama Magic, PB&J, Copper Flash, and Moonlight. All of the colors of the Christie Craw also now come in 30-packs to save some additional money. The Christie Critter is another popular design, and they added four new colors: Ghillie Suit, Green Gill, Bama Magic, and GP Shadow.
The Yum Craw Chunk was previously only available in a 2.75” and 3.75,” and now they have added a nice “in-between” size at 3.25”. Other than the size, the color and shape remains the same proven jig trailer they already make.
The Magnum Finesse worm is now available in a 7.5” size. It is available in 10 proven colors.
The YUM Dinger has a loyal following thanks to its effectiveness and price. They added four new colors: Red Bug, Black Gold Flake, Bold Bluegill, and Copper Flash. The YUM Tube also added three new colors: Camo, Natural, and Ghillie Suit.
The folks at Pradco Brands continue to release new designs and colors each year, and this year they made an effort to add to their proven collection of lures. Look for the new items, colors, and sizes soon.
