The Big Winners
Simms took home two prestigious ICAST awards, one for "Kid's Tackle" with their Kid's Tributary Wader and the other for "Warm Weather Technical Apparel" for the SolarFlex Guide Cooling Hoody.
Simms is well known for their great waders and they now have a top-notch wader in kid's sizes. Staying comfortable on (and in) the water is essential; waders are vital for many types of fishing. Kids should have the same comforts as adults and Simms made smaller sizes in their award-winning adult waders. They have layered fabric for breathability, articulated cuts for better fit and mobility, and fleece lining and handwarmer pockets. The retail cost is $149.95.
The SolarFlex Guide Cooling Hoody is designed to keep anglers cool in hot environments and helps to protect them against the sun. It has a UPF50 rating, a three-paneled hood, extended cuffs on the sleeves, and large zippered pockets. It comes in cloud camo grey and steel blue and retails for $119.95.
Tackle Management, Storage, Gloves, and Tools
In addition to great clothing, Simms has plenty of accessories, including tackle management and storage. They also make a bunch of tools and gloves. This year, they entered four of those items into the "New Product Showcase" at ICAST.
The Dry Creek Z Gear Pouch and Boat Bag are storage solutions that are well-built and thought out. The Dry Creek Z Gear Pouch is a small waterproof bag and can be submersed and stay dry. It has a clear front so you can see what's inside and the design allows for easy mounting to boats and rails. The Boat Bag is a larger-sized bag in the popular lineup and will fit 3700 boxes inside of it and it also has customizable dividers. It's a polyester fabric that is entirely waterproof and has magnetic buckles to secure it, even when it is unzipped.
For your hands, the Offshore Angler Glove is a heavy-duty set of gloves with excellent hand protection for fishing. They are meant for the saltwater environment with mean fish and heavy lines. The gloves are strong and built to last. The material is polyester and synthetic leather and also stretchy with dexterity in mind.
Like everything they make, the Simms Guide Plier is top-shelf quality. They are corrosion resistant and made of 17-4 stainless steel with anodized aluminum arms. They have a holster and leash, so you always know where they are and feature a tungsten carbon cutting blade for cutting your line and they have a bottle opener at the rear for your favorite beverage.
Footwear: Simms Challenger Mid Deck Shoe
The new Simms Challenger Mid Deck Shoe is a lightweight shoe that is comfortable, waterproof, and features a non-slip grip for wet environments. They are designed to be exceptionally breathable and have a molded arch support for extra comfort after long days on the water. The shoes also have a non-marking sole and anti-microbial treatment to prevent odors. They are available in men's sizes from 8 to 14 and come in the carbon color.
Men's Cold Weather Technical Apparel
The famous Challenger Insulated Fishing Jacket is now available in a new color, woodland camo. There is also a new Guide Insulated Jacket for the coldest of conditions. It has a GORE-TEX shell, PrimaLoft® insulation, and a storm hood for added warmth.
Men's and Women's Lifestyle Apparel
In these two categories, Simms unveiled the Men's Simms CX Full-Zip Hoody and the Women's Simms Challenger Suit. The Challenger Suit is a popular men's product and now there is a women's version. They are the same quality design with articulated sleeves, zippered handwarmer pockets and chest pockets, and more – just now in sizes, cuts and fits specifically made for women.
The Men's Simms CX Full-Zip Hoody uses recycled polyester and has a brushed fleece backside. It's made with a slim, athletic fit and has zippered chest and hand warmer pockets. The hoody comes in two colors: slate heather and black heather.
Simms continues to innovate with products designed for anglers who want the very best in clothing and gear. They have added several new products that will excite bass anglers and were able to win two more ICAST awards at this year's show.
