SOLD - 1997 Ranger R82

Post by miklanderson2 »

If you're in the market for a used bass boat, you aren't going to want to pass this deal up! I just ordered a new boat and it's going to be here at the end of the month, so I've got to get this one sold. I'm boat I'm selling is a 1997 Ranger R82 with a 150HP Merc EFI.

As far as the condition goes...It's a used bass boat. It's got some scratches, dings and marks on it, and the gel coat isn't as pretty as it used to be, but the hull is solid and she's tournament ready the way she sits right now. I started to restore the boat before I decided it was time to upgrade, so there's a lot of new stuff on her that you won't find on most boats this age.

Here's a list of the stuff that's been redone/replaced recently:

-The motor was serviced last year, and the impeller was replaced at the last service. The seals in the lower unit were redone a few years back. This motor has been rock-solid the entire time I've owned the boat, and has been serviced every 1 to 2 years, depending on how often the boat was run.

-New Mercury Pinpoint Xi5 80-lb Thrust Trolling Motor. This trolling motor has only been used 4 times since I bought it and had it installed. If you haven't used a Mercury Pinpoint, you're in for a treat! This motor has a built-in GPS module that allows you to press a button and have it hold you on your fishing spot. You can then press another button and have it jog you a few feet to the right or the left. It can also be set to record a route you took along a shoreline and then you can flip around and refish that exact same route in the opposite direction at the touch of a button.
This trolling motor comes with a handheld wireless control and a wireless foot pedal that can be used from anywhere in the boat. I absolutely love this trolling motor and thought about putting this one on my new boat, but decided to leave it on this one to sweeten the deal.

-Brand New Bench Seats. I just got the seats reupholstered and got them back from the shop last week. I’m actually going to walk out to the boat and reinstall them right after I’m done typing this, so I can take pictures for the ad…They’ve never been used and and are brand new, so they should last you many years of fishing.

-Newer front and rear seats, including the poles. These were replaced recently as well, and have only been used a couple times.

-Newer bow fishfinder. I replaced the fishfinder on the bow a couple years back. It isn’t a top of the line sidescanning GPS fishfinder with state of the art technology, but it will tell you how deep the water is and does a good job of marking fish, structure, etc. I’ve used it for a couple years and it works great!

-Brand new livewell pumps. These were just replaced and have only been used one time on the water to test them and make sure they work.

-Newer batteries.

Now, for the items that still need to be restored:

-The console fishfinder doesn’t work. For the money you’ll save buying this used boat, you can buy an awesome GPS sidescanning fishfinder that’ll do everything but catch the fish for you, and still have a bunch of money left over for gas, oil, beer, and tackle.

-There’s a bubble on the glove compartment lid. I don’t know what happened or why it’s there. It’s been like that since I bought the boat when it was almost brand new. The guy I bought the boat from said he ordered a new one and was having it shipped to my house, but I think he lied because I’ve been waiting 15 years and it still hasn’t shown up. If it ever arrives, I’ll send it your way.

-The carpet on one of the deck lids needs to be replaced. I’ve never let people smoke in the boat because the one time I let someone fire up a stogie they dropped a hot ember on the deck and melted the carpet. The carpet in that area, and that area only is starting to come apart. It’s nothing a little bit of glue and some new carpet won’t fix, but I’ll leave that to you…The new owner. If I fixed everything, I’d have to charge thousands more for the boat and I want to give you a great deal!

-A few of the deck lids need to be riveted. They’ve come loose from the bracket. They aren’t broken, just need some new rivets or screws. The glove box door needs to be riveted as well.

-It has some scrapes and scratches. It’s a bass boat. A used one.

-The Velcro on the rod straps is getting old. It still works, but doesn’t hold the way it used to.

-The gel coat needs a good polishing/waxing. It looks a little dull when it’s dry. As soon as you hit the water and it gets wet, it looks great.

This boat isn’t brand new and it’s priced accordingly. Most of this stuff is an easy fix, and you can choose whether you want to repair it or not. The boat runs great and is fully fishable as it is. I started to restore it and decided to buy a brand new 21ft bass boat instead. To be completely honest with you, I’m really going to miss this boat. I’ve had a lot of great memories in this boat…My son and daughter’s first fishing trips were in this boat. I’ve been on many awesome trips with family and friends and numerous bass over 10 pounds, 20+ pound stripers, 10+ pound catfish and 50+lb salmon have all hit the deck. I want to pass this fishing machine on to someone else who wants a great boat in which they can build their own set of fishing stories!

I’m asking $8,000 obo. This is a good entry level boat and it’s ready to hit the water. The price is negotiable, but this is a pretty good deal for a Ranger bass boat, even with the little bit of work it needs. No lowball offers will be accepted. Give me a call or text me at (510) 240-8112 if you're interested.
