AFTCO War On Carp
SANTA ANA, Ca., Jan 27, 2020 -- In response to the growing invasive Carp issues impacting valuable fisheries like Kentucky Lake, AFTCO contributed a $10,000 donation to the Lyon County Industrial Development Authority in 2020. The funds were allocated to the direct removal of 250,000 pounds of Asian Carp in the Lake Barkley region of Kentucky through commercial subsidies.
AFTCO worked directly with Pro Team member Mark Menendez and Lyons County Judge Executive Wade White on a short film to recap the recent developments in reducing the biomass of invasive Carp in Kentucky Lake with the help of commercial fishermen and subsidies like the AFTCO contribution. The positive impacts of the War on Carp efforts have been seen with a major decrease of dangerous jumping Carp and an uptick in fishing for gamefish species such as Largemouth Bass, Crappie and Bluegill. Despite these tremendous improvements and developments, the War on Carp is not over. We encourage all anglers and outdoorsmen to continue to spread the word and make contributions where you can to the cause. One way you show your support is by purchasing a custom AFTCO War On Carp fundraiser t-shirt to help increase awareness. For every War On Carp fishing shirts sold, $5 will go directly to combat Asian Carp.
