I use several different online weather reports, but I find that they are very "inaccurate" for Delta winds. I live in Suisun.... the "real windy city".... Chicago has nothing on us !
But often, even when I look out of my bedroom window, and see that the trees are about to break (well not quite) the report from the Weatherchannel.com will say like 12 mph ! Yea' right !
This morning it said up to 14 mph, but I cancelled my Sturgeon / Striper trip anyway, based on what I could see with my own two eyes. My buddy heard from the weather channel on his radio, about 25 mph winds with gusts of 35 to 40 mph. This sounds much more believable. So where can I get this kind of accurate wind info, online ???
Curious,
Fish
PS, I did try using Travis AFB for the report area (figuring the runway is right down the middle of the Delta wind tunnel) and it showed a few more MPH, but still didn't seem accurate ?
Accurate wind reports for the Delta ???

I use www.sacdelta.com they have a last 24 hour wind, tide and water temp chart. The wind speeds are at the Rio Vista bridge and the Andtioch bridge.

the national weather service radio station if you have a weather band radio updates every hour or so. Their web site updates about as often.

Re: Accurate wind reports for the Delta ??? (SAILBOATS!!)
If you see any of these out there the wind will usually stop within minutes!!
Just kiddin!!! TWC is the one I use most, but I too will try the ones listed. Net wise, you can give intellicast and weatherunderground a spin too!!!!

Thanks to all, and hey Sacto....
I looked at all of the links posted here, (while watching the trees outside of my window bending) and the NOAA site showed the highest winds.... so at least with the wind direction at that time, it seemed to be most accurate.
.....but the best part is, it's only showing up to 10 mph today
And no wind at all right now at my house ! Yeeehaaa ! Sturgeon / Stripers here I come !
Peace,
Fish
