Aluminum Boats in Tournaments?

Post by DeltaBound »

Can you enter any team or pro tournament in an Aluminum Boat?
If you have one, how do you like it?

Thanks,

...in the tournament organization's rules. I am not aware of any restrictions for aluminum boats, only boat lengths and horsepower minimums and maximums.

Here is the WON BASS rule regarding boats:

Each Pro tournament entered boat must be a minimum of 16 feet in length and be equipped with a minimum eighty (80) horsepower outboard motor. Minimum horsepower for team tournaments is ten (10) horsepower with a minimum boat length of 14 feet. Engines may not exceed the BIA horsepower rating for the boat hull and no outboards over 250HP will be permitted in a WON BASS event. Dual engine outboard vessels are also prohibited. “Stickâ€

I used my Tracker last year for team fishing. I bought an older Ranger from my dad this year, but still prefer to use my tracker in team events.
It has everything I need, except for speed 40 mph max. I like it because it is a shallow running boat and handles most waters in my area ( Central Coast).
Also, my Tracker is in better shape than my ranger.
I read somewhere there is a guy in FLW that is using a G3 190
with a 200 hp on it.

Thanks, I'm thinking about getting a G3 180 w/115HP Yamaha 4 stroke. I don't know if Yami 4 strokes are reliable or not. I was going to get a Ranger Z19, but my wife needs a new car.
