ANTI REVERSE
ANTI REVERSE
I was looking for a new spinning reel and I had noticed that all the models have the anti-reverse switch on the bottom of the reels instead of the upper rear of the housing like they used to be. Why is that? I have gotten used to the switch on the rear of the reel because I can flip it over with my rght pinky finger to back reel and still keep my left hand on the reel handle. Is this going to be a permanent design change??

Re: ANTI REVERSE
Shimano has the best drags in the business so why are you back reeling? You are an island boy not form the midwest. ha ha I know what you mean by the switch being right there for you though.
I fish 4 and 5 lb. line all the time and let my drag work for me. Whet I set the hook, if i got a good fish on i back off my drag a little and control the spool with my middle finger.

First one in the box settles the nerves!

It just looks cool makes it seem like you got a big fish, nah just kidding. But I like the anti reverse on the back and not underneath.

Re: ANTI REVERSE
We did this because of the inshore anglers that use rod holders on there boats. The switch can break when they are running in the boats. We moved the switch to prevent possible breakage.
I don't understand the back reel thing either but if thats how you learned and how you fish, then there's no changing. The drags are extremely smooth. I fish 3-5 pound on my Stella 1000 with no issues.
