Anyone ever fish Jenkins lake?

Post by Mike »

I'm going camoing there on 6-8 and this time I'm taking my boat! I went last year and caught 1 smallmouth of the dam on a spinnerbait, But other than that I'm clueless. Any help?......

Do not go there. Fishing sucks.

No really, I was there about 3 weeks ago and we caught a bunch of Smallies and a few largemouth with the biggest pushing 5 lbs! Even got 2 trout on 4 inch worms.
Had a great day. Going back either Friday or Saturday.
I think the Smallmouth action may rival Tulloch but it will take a few more trips to determine that.

We were splitshotting some Green Weenie worms I made. Also got a few cranking. Tried topwater with no takers.

I cannot concur with GW that the smallies rival Tulloch.....

But Jenkinson can be fun!! Fish the back end with the flooded vegetation and into the creek/river arm towards the falls. The second dam ia also good for deep fish (dropshot/darthead).

I have never got on a good reation bite up there and I am not quite sure why, but that could be me. I would stick with greens and browns, the crawfish in that lake get huge!!! we used to set traps at night and have some awesome crawfish boils while deer hunting.
