Anyone still sell the Curado (green) baitcasting reel?

Post by Calistar »

You know, the green CU-201B (I use a left-handed model).

I'm looking to buy one new...possibly used (if in excellent condition).

Anybody know of any websites?

Thanks!

Good luck finding one new. Look on eBay, no stores that I have searched sell them any longer. I am still a green Curado fan and keep trying to buy them when I can, but I reel from the correct side (right handed)

Walton's Pond in San Leandro usually has some used ones.

call Ron Brandt @ Frontier Liquor and Sporting Goods in Fallon NV. I was out in Fallon the other day for a service call and had to stop here...GUNS, LIQUOR and SLOT MACHINES..what a place!

He had a few in his display case, right near the ammo and the Capt. Morgan!

Try Longs Drugs in "fishy" towns like Redding, Fairfield, Stockton... The Sporting Goods Mgr. used to have pretty free range to carry items they wanted, I bought a couple of Chronarchs that way... full retail though.

Any of the green lefty curado (those and sf castaics are all I use) ebay is pretty much your only choice. You might run across one at Longs or K-mart, but that is gonna be few and far between.
A few months back, I found a new w/o box lefty for about $123 shipped to my door.
Expect to pay over retail value for a "new" one on ebay, but fortunately they are common enough to have at least 5-10 listed at once, in all stages of usedness.
Just the other day I got a used one for $80.01, it's got a few rubs and small scratches and I had to do a full tear down to clean and lube it, it's got a little seasoning to it but it preformed just fine yesterday.

Good luck out-bidding me!

Question ?

If they are in such high demand ---- Why dont Shimao start reproducing them with the same components?? :?:

This sounds like comparing driving a '69 Shelby against '97 Mustang Cobra ????????

Abu Revo is where it is at !! --- Can anyone say "Ferrari" ??

Dan I agree. I am going to eventually get 8 Abu Revo STX's. Those are some real smoot casting reels!

Wow I didn't Know I just sold a CU-200B yesterday on a diff fishing site and a CU-201B5 today on the same site, If I knew people here would buy them I would of posted them here.

Just for a heads up I may have a CU-200B5 9 in looks and 9.5 working order with box and papers, CU-100B 7.5 - 8 in looks and 9.5 in working order with box and papers, and a CU-201BSF NEW in the Box  that could go up for sell but I cann't say that here because this is not the Classifieds :?

I was talking to the Shimano rep at the Fred Hall show at the Cow Palace, he said that the Cruxis is the same reel as the old green Curado, only with a different color (kinda chocolate milk brown)...and it's at a lower price!!

BTW, the wife got me a new Citica last Christmas, it's one sweet reel for about the same price as the old Curado

Really?...I didn't know that...I may have to check into those reels.

I wish they didn't stop making the curados...then I wouldn't have to go on this search...

Thanks everyone for your suggestions....I need to pick up one or two reels, so this info is very helpful.

Revo's are nice. My buddy just got a Revo S, and he is absolutely stoked with it. Let me give you a little advice, go for Revo SX, they're cheaper and smooth enough to spare the $50 more for an STX.

I really like the Revo's but for me the gearbox is just too dropped for a comfortable grip on my preffered rod.

Thats great that some can be found in stores.

I've had to buy a few from e-bay. Just to add on buying a used reel, you can get alot of re-build parts from Connie @

http://www.lakeforktacklerepair.com/

or you can even send it into her!! I bought the whole nine yards from them including the CD. These folks know Curados :D :D
