Anyone use a hydra wave

Post by nate50 »

Does anyone have any success stories using a hydra wave? I'm thinking of getting one but it sounds a little "gimmicky". I'm looking for the good and the bad of them.

Im no pro are even close to one. Just a fisherman for fun. I installed one on my boat and had a experience at Lake Berryessa whereI would have to say it absolutely worked for ME. When on shad frenzy the shad were all around my boat turned it off and they were gone. turned back on and there they were again. Not sure if it was a coincidence or not but i did it several times that day.

+2 KVD and the Squirrel (lol) endorses it, I'd like to think KVD wouldn't steer us wrong. I was given one as a gift, and the first time I used it I definitely saw a difference when I was using it on McClure during the winter. The fish were laying on the bottom trying to get warm, and when I turned it on it looked to me as if they were in search of the school of shad,a few came up towards the boat. It made me a believer that KVD was on to something. Since then I've even bought the extra chip that has crawdads sounds, for when I'm fishing the delta. I also use it when punching, as you know crawdads like the mats. Since there pricey I'd recommend going out with someone who has one to see for yourself. I know that I ever sell the Skeeter it's going with me. Hope this sheds a little in your decision making.
Good luck, Steve

Many people expect the fish to jump in the boat when they use a HydroWave. It's just a tool. It works many times, but not always. It's pretty cool to see the baitfish swim up and look at the speaker and, yes, it can really fire a school of bait up. It requires time on the water to figure it out and know when to use it.

Exactly toddmc, if it worked all the time everyone would own one. There are times when its better left off. Like everything else use in moderation. I've noticed big girls following swimbaits seem to be turned off with it,perhaps that's why there big girls. Good luck, Steve

I bought a used one off of http://www.bassboatcentral.com/index.htm from the classifieds/electronics or miscalanious forum, and you can save a lot of money. I've used it now and then and at times it really makes a difference. It's not going to work ALL the time, but then nothing does,
