Art will be back kicking a@@ on the tour. He's too good a stick and too motivated to not make it. I wish him all the best!

Great read. Everyone who desires to be a bass pro should read that article.

I know I found myself in a similar situation and I chickened out and went back to work. I have about 5 friends who are in that exact situation.

Art has ALL my respect in the world. I love it when some tells you how things really happen.

On a serious note. Art is class act. Every bit of this article is true. I remember 13 years ago when i was just a 14 year old kid fishing out of my dads bass tracker.. I idolized Art Berry. I remember one day in particular that I will never forget. I ditched school and had my dad drop me off at the lake. I caught my personal best out of San Vicente that day, a 6.85. I did'nt have a scale and Art saved the day. He was just as stoked as I was about this fish and let me borrow his scale and took some pictures for me. I will never forget that day. He showed me that day what a class act he was helping a younger guy out. It's an honor to fish against him out at DVL and he is now a close friend. Thanks again Art.

p.s - Thank's for letting me crash out on couch. I know I snore loud as ****.

Good read, although it made me kind of sad.

Keep the faith Art. Nobody can deny his dedication...that's for sure. He's definitely one of the best fishermen from the West and his day will come. Good luck!

Back to the topic... Art Berry. That article was a tough read. Emotional stuff. DVL is Art's house!! We all know this, and he has proven this time and time again at DVL at tournament time. Need a DVL guide, Art Berry, no brainer. I look forward to him returning to the FLW NG Series, Stren, and WON Bass south next year, so I can follow him to all of his spots - just kidding. Art is one of the best from the west, and he will continue to cash checks. I will say this, on the water, at a tackle show, or even just talking with him in the parking lot at the lake, this dude is a class act.

Art Berry has always been a great angler and everytime I have ever spoken to him he has been a class act. I wish him the best as he overcomes his struggles and makes his way back onto the tour and beyond.

This is just an idea someone might want to run with for Art - Someone like Rick Grover could probably head this up and make it happen for him!

---- I have never heard of it in fishing before but, in golf there was always the option of selling stock in yourself. For instance - Let's say Art or whoever needs 20K to fish the Western Series next year. Well, for $1000 you can own 2% of his earnings from tournaments for that year. With a fisherman like Art Berry there are lots of guys who would believe in his ability to earn money on the tour. If he just placed top 50 in the 4 events he would earn 40,000 and 2% of 40,000 is $800 in return for your $1000 investment Or If Art should win an event (which he definitely could) then you would earn $2500 ($125,000 winners check) on your investment for that one tournament. Worst case scenario, you get part of your money back and you helped support a local fishing pro for a year. With the right angler it (such as Art) the odds are as good or better than any odds in Vegas!

Don't shoot me - it's just an idea!!

There is always that chance at a million and Art has a good a chance as anyone! For a million each investor would get $20K!

I can think of a few other anglers I would like to do this with. No list - but, I am sure you all have a few on your list as well. But, Art is certainly on and near the top of most if not all lists!

Good read. Anybody who thinks that "Pro" bass fishing in Southern California exists needs to read this story. You are a Pro as long as you can pay the costs. Too bad as there are other areas of the Country that are receptive to support. Seems like a guy with Art's dedication to the sport should move. May sound harsh but sacrifice is part of anybody's climb to the top of a profession based on play. The guys with the checkbooks know it and exploit it.

It is unfortunate as to the extent one has to stick his neck out to pursue a dream. And I dont think Art can stick his neck out any further. But it does make one wonder if it is all worth it... Not being able to pay your heating bill??? You gotta give it to a guy that will fish at all costs. after reading the article, he has some stones to continue to live the way he does to pursue his dream.
