Bedliner coating for boats

Post by bustout »

Anyone use bedliner coating for the bottom interior of the boat in place of carpet or marine vinyl flooring ?

Aside from the black color, looks durable.

any one know of problems going this route?

I have seen it in bare aluminum boats, but how about on wood floor of an aluminum boat?

In a Nitro I had a while back I put in the liquid Liner made for boats sold by Cabelas called Tough Coat. They add silca to it to add traction and I really liked it. Even when wet it had good traction just about as much as carpet, and it was super easy to clean. Great stuff I highly recomend it. Just make sure you get the primer for the correct type of surface, make sure its sanded and cleaned very well.

Doesnt get a whole lot hotter then dark grey carpet. On a hot day I couldnt stand bare foot on the carpet. The advantage is the lower area is a high wear area. Dirt, spilled drinks, Blood, water that seams to never dry in the winter.
Once mine gets dirty I just wash it out and forget it.
I would post a pic but photobucket is down right now.

I DID IT IN MY OLD BOAT, I USED LIGHT GRAY COLOR AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH GETTING TOO HOT. I EVEN FISH BAREFOOT ALOT OF THE TIME AND TAKE MY KIDS. I WAS HAPPY WITH IT AND ALOT LESS MAINTAINENCE THAN CARPET. WE HAD RHINO LINER PUT IN AND IT COST $400. THAT COVERED THE WHOLE INSIDE AND THE RAILS.

Isn't that bedliner rough? A lot of guys swing a fish into the "well" so the fish doesn't flop out of the boat, and it seems that rough surface would be hard on the fish and/or their slime coat........

It may be bad on the fish but so is carpet. The carpet takes of there slim coat.

Grizzly Grip has colors available. It also comes in two textures: Fine or Coarse.
FINE texture looks and feels like a orange peel would be good for feet and your knees BUT provides little for non slip.
Coarse texture is not very soft on bare feet but will give you a good non slip finis

Boat trailers are very popular with grizzly grip.

You would think it would cause some serious damage and rub rash on your equipment like your reels when bouncing around on the front deck! Scuff the heck outa your guide frames too!
