Dropshot rod

Look at the St. Croix dropshot rod. There is a few different choices and prices. stcroixrods.com I use the avid 7' 4-10. When you go to the site click on rod selector and put in what you want. Fishwrangler

A custom rod from Steve Biechman. He makes a great rod. I have a dropshot rod that is made on a Graphite USA blank that is just incredible. You can feel thefish breathe on it :D

Look for a 7 footer in med/light action..I believe St. Croix makes one and they can be seen on the tackle warehouse site..I have caught thousands this way including 3 over ten.

St. Croix also has a 6'9" dropshot rod. This rod was made for us west coast dropshot fisherman. There is a tournament series, avid also. I have been using the avid and works great. stcroixrods.com

Dropshot rod

Post by Triton Mike »

Curado dude. That's really an open ended question without you describing what weights you like to fish, how heavy of cover you are going to fish your dropshot in.

Personally the best dropshot rods I have found for spinning have been the MLF and ULF Croixs in your favorite lenghts. These can be bought spinning or casting and are great for open water little cover dropshotting and weights up to 1/4 oz. I will say that the P7000 Shikari (can only be built custom) is another very sweet dropshot rod that Terry Battisti put me on. If you have problems with the fish feeling you and letting go on a VERY TOUGH bite the P7000 is a great choice. For Heavy cover fishing I'll reserve judgment cause I don't bubba shot much (no cover out here in Georgia :( )

casting drop-shot rod

Post by scott h »

Check out the lamiglas xpc-703 Flats series rods they are made for saltwater popping, but I have found to be the best rod for drop shotting with a baitcaster. Loads up nice and has enough range to cover most situations.

I'm Waiting for Powell Rods

Post by John Harper »

I would wait to see what Powell has. They are going to be the rods to have. With Gary D involved in this the quality will be worth waiting for. They should be out sometime in October and I’m hearing they will be reasonably priced.
