A Big Thank You to Katrina Dehaven and Triton Boats

Post by BassTraveler »

I would like to "Thank" the Kat Woman from Arizona for asking me to fish with her this past weekend.
If you have ever meet Kat...you'll know she's a tiny thing with the most positive energy a person her size can handle.
She has had to over come some health adversities I wouldn't wish on anyone.
We had an absolute BLAST.
I'm just glad I still know how to net fish, because on Saturday...I had it in my hands a lot.
Someone asked me what baits we used to win. I told him, but I also added it didn't matter.
The only expectations we had was having a good time.
I'll share two stories...there were many during the last two days.
We pulled up to a spot on Saturday...it was about noon. I had been joking around with Kat that she needed to get a big bite. On her second cast she yells: "Fish On."
Her little rod starts to double up.
I yell:"loosen your drag...back reel."
She says:"I don't know how."
Then I begin to notice the fish is fighting funny.
"It's a Katfish!!!" "Give me you rod."
I lossen the drag and give it back to her.
(This time of year is a good time to catch big catfish on Clearlake.)
We fight the fish for at least five minutes.
As it's coming up...I thought I'd better just grab the net just to be sure.
It wasn't a catfish. It was a 9.44 lb BassKat.
I scooped it up.
Then she went on to tell me that the six pound line she has on is strong....I yelled:"What pound test do you have on!!!"
The great part of this whole story is that Justin Wolff and Dave Rush were there to Film the whole thing.
The second story I'd like to share is...twenty minutes before weigh in on Sunday. We can see the check in boat. We have about 16 pounds. We had a tough day. We just didn't get any big bites. The weather was nice. I hear a splash and look back. Kat's going for the net.
"You got one?": I ask.
"No, My cell phone dropped out of my pocket." she said.
As she's scooping..she says:"How deep is it here?"
"About 20 feet." I add.
She gives me that look and we both start busting up.
Not even two minutes go by and Kat gets hooked up, with a 12 incher. We play it up as a five pounder.
Then I tell her: "I more cast, then we got to head in."
But, first I say:"Do you hear that."
"I think so":she says.
"There it goes again." I add.
"What do you hear?" she says.
"It's your cell phone...someone is trying to call you."
She gives me that grin look and again we bust up laughing.
We made that last cast and got rewarded with a five pound kicker.
We won by just over a pound and a half.
Was it that last cast five pounder that did it?
No.
It was the whole two days of just going out and having a blast.
We didn't catch a lot of fish the two days. Twelve on Saturday and Nine on Sunday. It helped that we didn't lose any.
We just ran around and burned gas and had fun.

I would also like to "Thank" Triton boats.
From Kent Brown...(I see a comedy tour coming)
to George the Western Rep... to the four West Coast Dealers and the Fine Brass from Tennessee for showing their support to the people that make it happen.
That is the Triton Boat owners.
They came from all over the West Coast and even North Carolina.
It left an impression on me and other boat companies to follow.
I would like to say Congratulations to Brad Marr and Mike Tuck for winning that beautiful Triton Boat.
All I can say is:"Tuck it's about time you won another boat."
Good thing you had Brad there to help. 8)

Thanks for letting me share...
