Boat electronics question

I have a question for the guys out west (I’m in San Diego). As a general observation I’ve noticed that most bass fisherman out this way use Lowrance electronics and being a former saltwater guy Furuno and Raytheon were the units of choice. Does anyone here have any experience or insight to the new Humminbird units, specifically using the Side imaging technology (i.e., 987SI)? It seems to be a fairly popular unit with the guys in the Mid-west and the South and the little research I’ve done on the internet is pretty convincing but I’ve not seen much in the way of folks out in these parts using them.

I just ordered an 07 Z21 with duel Lowrance LCX 26’s but wanted to hear some real world experience from some local knowledge before settling on that decision. Any thoughts or opinions?

So what does the bird do that the Lowrance lxc26HD doesn't?

Any electronics are only as good as the person using them. If they work for you, then they are fine.

Thanks DEVCON, I've looked on there before and it was pretty impressive.

Deltabound, the Humminbird 987SI has side imaging capabilities where you're able to see not only straight down, but out to the side.

I ended up ordering a Lowrance LCX 111 HD and a 26 HD.

LOL, no offense, but if your new 07 Z21 with duel Lowrance LCX 26’s ain't good enough then I don't think a lack of side imaging is your problem!
