Boat insurance

Post by brambo0311 »

I have AAA for auto and progressive for home owners. I better get something on my boat since I'm in it more than my house and truck. Been lucky going without boat insurance for so long. Who covers all your tackle and rods? Progressive is about 40 a month. What's my other options? I'm looking to sign up today before I drive to CL

Brambo...whatever you do, do NOT go with Fish On Insurance / WestMar...I am dealing with them right now over the lower unit and they are a nightmare to say the least...I'll fill you in over a pm...

Well so far progressive transfered me all over the place and then to there 3 rd party carrier, so they don't have a clue. Aaa said they will cover it through my home owners, but my policy is paid through progressive. I'm leaving in 10 min and guess I'm going without again. No one is calling me back. Oh well.

I can only imagine what it would be like to file a claim if you can't even sign up.

When I bought my new boat in September, I took me about 20 minutes total to fully insure my boat 250,000 ....full replacement for 5 years and 5000 dollars for content loss...about 29 dollars a month. I went with progressive.....although there are plenty of other companies...and I've never made a claim so I have no report on them.

My usual insurance company USAA , no longer does watercraft and they transfered me to progressive.

I signed up with Gayla at Sawyer cook insurance. Only people who answered there phone. Good coverage, 5000 in tackle if it gets stolen, ect.. They even cover tournament fees if I break down. About 600 s year for more coverage than anyone else. 300 deductable on boat, 250 for trailer. A little less I have to stress about. Thanks

You are getting ripped off. You should be paying no more then $300 for the coverage you mention.

I would stay away from Foremost boaters, I got hosed by them last summer after reporting an incident with my boat 1st claim after many years with them and they were no help. Check out Stan Vanderberg of San Fernando ins. services in Northridge he is a tournament fisherman and he will design a policy for yur needs. Yu can see the advertisement in western outdoor news

I am a Farmers agent and can tell you that you are in good hands with just about any company that specializes in fishing boats. I personally use 1-800-Bass-boat and haven't ever made a claim thank god but their service is great. Now for your house, autos, life call me for Free quoting & support your local fishing Farmers agent, lol!

Sorry to hear you've had problems with West Mar Ins. I've dealt with them for years in service and have found them fair and quick with the claim. sometimes it can be the service dept working with the insurance co. what ever you do make sure you have a policy with agreed value not depreciating value on your boat.

Well I got to plug Progressive. Have had them for more than 5 years. About a month ago I damaged my lower unit and prop at Clear lake. Called Progressive when I got home and reported the accident. They looked up my policy and said no deductible for me since I was a policy holder for more than 5 years. I took my boat to Boat Masters and a week later had a new (referb) lower unit and prop was fixed by Phils. Progressive even follow-up with me after to make sure I was happy with the repair (and I picked the shop). I'm happy with Progressive, hopefully they don't raise my rates! I think its one of those things you pay for but hope never to use. But when you need it, its nice to know they will take care of you. For me Progressive came through for me.

Give the Vanderberg's a call. Ken and Stan are tournament anglers and have great rates. My 2007 Z20 premiums are $512/year. All the typical stuff, plus coverage during tournaments. You'll find that the State Farms and Progressive's won't do that.

1800 bass boat, ask for Ken or Stan

Plus, when you call you can talk fishing with 'em.

I use Gayla King from Sawyer and Cook. Sometimes automated phones are a pain to get through but patience pays off. I am adjusting my policy as my boat is not new any more so I can save a few bucks on my policy. Great to talk to easy to work with

I insured with Progressive two years ago and had a lower unit claim within two months. They couldn't have been any nicer or more professional. I have agreed value for tackle replacement.

Gayla King at Sawyer and Cook hands down. I have checked prices, they are cheaper than some and a few bucks more than others. What I can say is she will return your emails and phone calls quickly and takes care of business. I had a claim a few years back and they took care of everything, and I mean everything. I could go with someone else and save maybe $50 per year......but I would rather pay it and be taken care of. Just my .02

I have mine through AAA under my home owner's policy. I have only had to use it once and it was smooth, like one phone call smooth. They paid for my boat to get fixed then went after the deadbeat's insurance who ran into me. They sent me a check for my deductible when they collected. I would recommend them highly.
