Camping at Lake Almanor
Camping at Lake Almanor
Taking the family up to lake Almanor camping for the first time in the next month. Never been there looking for a resort that is clean with cabins or without and some place for the kids to swim. Also a place for my boat. What are the current fishing conditions and what part of the lake to start out for those small mouth. Any help would be great thanks.
Re: Camping at Lake Almanor
There's a couple of campgrounds available at Almanor that I've used in the past. Rocky Point and Yellow Creek Campgrounds. You can call (916)386-5164 for more information.
You can also contact the Forest Service at (530)258-2141 for information about the Almanor Campground.
AS for private resorts, there's also quite a few, here's a couple
Plumas Pines Resort (530)259-4343
Knotty Pines Resort & Marina (530)596-3959
As for the Smallmouth fishing, the rocky area's near the dam seem to be favorites, you can also head up towards Chester and try the offshore islands. I'm not sure what the water level is like, but a friend of mine who guides for Trout & Salmon say's their's some pretty brutal winds in the afternoons, so be safe!
