I bought a Cardiff 300 for one of my swimbait rods. It's less than a year old, but it's starting to feel rough when I retrieve. I've oiled all the bearings I can reach lightly, and the prawl.
I think it's the paddles. Is there some way to lube them, or is this normal?

The handle paddles can be removed for cleaning and lubrication. At the end of the paddle you will see a round plastic cap. Remove this cap and you will see the screws or nuts that hold the paddles on.
The roughness could also be in the gears. Without seeing the reel its hard to diagnose why it feels rough. Try lubing the handles and if the problem is still there I would recommend that you send the reel in for service.
