I caught my first keeper in 3 months on 9/23 Saturday. It was 1.3 and other than it being 3 months in the doing it was pretty much a lightning strike or a needle in a haystack thing. I talked to the front gate for 20 minutes and it certainly was not a Ranger Rob experience. Nobody knows anything except when they get paid or what shift they work. A friend of mine called DFG Santa Barbara and told them about malnourished fish. They told him they would be at the lake in the spring. I don't know what he means by malnourished and I doubt anything of any consequence will come of a visit by DFG just after El Nino has topped off the lake by spring. It's more than sick but I'm done commenting on it. I'm just going to go fish'n...

9 months from now it’s going to be completely different… I’ve kept a close eye on the lake and this years spawn, which was INCREDIBLE! , are growing at a good rate . I’ve never seen so many small bass as I have this year , and I’ve been going since 1969. I believe it’s going to be back on track and we can all enjoy it again …. Just me 2 cents…

When the local guides can’t catch bass on live shad and resort to fishing for pan fish or leave the lake something is wrong. Agree the ecosystem appears to support a excellent recruitment year for bass but where are the females. Lots of bait make for tough conditions but the tourney guys are very good bass anglers and can’t get bit day or night something isn’t right!
Hope I am wrong and the big girls show up in February 2024.

I think some girls will still show up, because that’s why the lakes full of fry, but “big girls”? Don’t hold your breath.
