Clear Lake help

Post by SNEAKS123 »

Im up here at Clearlake for the next 7 days and need some advice on what to throw. In the last 2 days I've thrown buzzbaits, spinnerbaits, dropshots, shakeyheads and poppers and only scrounged up one 2lb fishermen. Lots of little baby fish bitting but nothing of size. PM me with any help your willing to share. Thanks

sneaks,
its just outright tuff at clear lake right now, just like it is with the Delta. There just isnt any easy answer for you 'cause everything that should be working, just is not.

My buddy was there yesterday and got only 6 fish for a full day on the water, and he is a stud on that lake. His partner, who is no slacker himself from the backdeck, got zero bites. if those guys are struggling, i have no chance to catch fish there - ugh!

They said the lake is full of baitfish now and they are really thick. So, i know from previous years when that happens you gotta get away from it. In this situation, there is just too much for them to eat, so you gotta go away from the bait and find fish that are not gourging on them. go deep and go slow; thats about all i know.

Good Luck,

Kopper

SNEAKS123 - We are heading up late tomorrow night. Will be fishing Thursday - Sunday, if you see a mid 80's brown and gold Ranger with a Modesto AmBassAdors sticker on the motor stop and say high. Good luck!!! I hope you figure them out.

If you guys are up there tomorrow nite you should come fish the Wednesday nite shootout out of redbud from 5-9. One big fish. 30 bucks per angler. Be at redbud at 4:30. Fun tourney. Call clearlake bait n tackle if you have any more questions. Cash for 1st and 2nd bigfish and prizes down to 5th place.

When it's tough there I can usually get some bites on a 707 pepper jig with a 4.20 size sweet beaver in oxblood or payback color. 707 is brown and purple.
