Collapsible Flippin Stick

Post by madddogg »

Last Saturday on the Fun Fishing show Alan Fong was using a collapsible flippin stick. Anyone know what brand of rod this was? Searching internet coming up blank.

I think he usually uses a G-Loomis. You can always give him a call at the warehouse, he would be happy to tell ya

I don't know what rod Alan uses, but virtually all flipping sticks have retractable handles to make them shorter for storage. Beginning with the Bass Pro Shops Graphite Series for $19.95, through all of the intermediate priced flipping sticks, up to the G. Loomis and Lamiglas flipping rods costing several hundred dollars, most all of them have the collapsible handle. It is a very handy feature that also makes the butt of the rod even stronger. Even the 7 1/2 foot Crankin' Sticks at BPS have the collapsible handles.
Several years ago, Daiwa made a series of 7' trigger rods that had the collapsible handles. I have several of them that I still use and appreciate their ability to be shortened for travel.
I'm hoping as more and more manufacturers jump on the swim-bait rod train, they'll use the collapsible handle to make their 7 1/2 and 8 foot rods more storable and stronger.
Please practice CPR (catch, photo, and release)
