Post by Brian D. »

for kickn butt at the SOCB Casitas event on Saturday. Darren, AKA the Lachenator, had just over 14 lbs. to get 1st place. Sources say that most of his fish were caught on Stinko's fished around brush and tulles.

It was luck really. Jeff and I had been up there two weeks prior and got fish doing the same thing..but I was primarily bed fishing that day and did not fish the stenko much at all. This time I did a quick run of a few spots looking at water clarity and looking for beds and cruising fish. Saw lots of empty beds and a lot of smaller 1 to 2 pound cruisers so I decided to see if I could get a small limit on stenkos and then throw the trout bait. As you can see I stuck to the senko all day for the simple fact that they were eating it and every fish I caught on it was decent fish. I may have had a better shot at a "big" fish had I thrown the Hudd but I decided to run spots and fish the senko...I figured if i got a 4 on it early a 6 or 7 was bound to eat it at some point. Too bad Mr. Cox beat me to her!! It was a fun day and it was nice to get off the shnide for the '05-'06 club season.
