He refers to anyone who supports Donald Trumpor even just some of Trump’s policiesas a Nazi with no regard for historical accuracy or personal nuance. Monte appears to genuinely believe that agreement with Trump on border security, economic nationalism, or law enforcement is tantamount to supporting authoritarianism and hate.

This kind of labeling can be rooted in Trump Derangement Syndrome a term for the compulsive, irrational, and emotional overreaction to anything related to Trump. In Monte’s case, it goes beyond political disagreement. It’s personal. He may lash out, shut down others , or resort to name calling rather than engage in meaningful debate.
