Costa Del Mar Owners

Post by Micropterus salmoides »

I want to get a pair of Wave 580s and was planing on getting the Green Mirror Glass. A rep for Costa Del Mar said the Copper Glass or Silver Mirror Glass would be better for sight fishing. I'm looking for a lens for sight fishing as well as all-round conditions.

I got the harpoons in the 580 green mirror glass lense and they are the best by far for bed fishing , i have tried Maui Jims , solar bat , and some other brands and there is night and day difference in spotting the fish . I was at the new bass Pro shop and they have a good selection of Costas , i would suggest trying them on and see which ones fit best , that is really important . :D

I have the same 580 green lens in the hammerheads. They are by far the best sunglasses I have owned for fishing. I really can see well in all conditions with these. Great for sight fishing or just looking for cruising fish.

Micropterus- I used to be one of the "different lenses for different situations" people before I got my Costas, Fathom's in 580 Green Mirror. Now, in my opinion, there is no need. Great all around glass!

Thanks guys. I thought that the green mirror glass was the way to go, but when the rep said the other two would be better I was confused. That's why I came here to ask anglers.

As far as having different lenses for different lighting conditions, I was only planning on purchasing one lens, but wanted to make sure I got the right one. I don't have that kind of money.

Did you get your new glasses yet? If not, I may have a deal for you.

Last week I purchased new Costas Green Mirror 580's in the Swordfish frame and found that I still need prescription lenses to properly see my GPS. The glasses are just as good as everyone said in your post, I just need prescription glasses all the time now.

I will sell you these (worn once) for $165.00 shipped to you.

While I trust everyone here is giving their best answer, I can't imagine picking out a vision aid from a public opinion poll. Everyone's eyes are different, not just in visual acuity, but as relates to cones for day vision and rods for low light.

You want glasses for "your eyes only."

You wouldn't choose a heart medicine, antibiotic or painkiller based on how it worked for Joe in Long Beach. Try before you buy.

There is no one lens fits all.

I wear green mirror or the copper lens in the 580. They both are AWESOME. According to of the Costa people, their copper is best, but for me I think I see fish better with the green mirror. I wear the Harpoons.

I also wear the Green Mirror 580 lenses in the Man O War frames. The Green Mirror seem to work best for me and the 580 lenses are the best damn glass you can ask for. You will never go wrong with Costa Del Mar.

How about winning TWO pairs of Costa's via the FPT/Costa Del Mar "Champions Choice" Award....

If you win a FPT event and one member of the team owns a pair of Costa Del Mar's, you will each receive a pair of these premium glasses! We have them in many of their most popular styles, so when you win, you will be able to pick the style you want, and have various styles for various situations.
